And the journey continues: Follow Damo and Patrick from Germany to Puerto Rico

Here is the latest bit of Damos video blog, on his way from the world championships in Sylt to the North American Championships in Puerto Rico.

The first day of racing here proved to be a difficult one, after skippersmeeting at 10:00 the fleetw as supposed to head out to the course area at 12:00 for the first start, when a heavy rainsquall hit the course area and the start had to be postponed. Even with marks as high as 2.5 meters it would have been impossible to see them, even from nearby.

After the rain went, the fleet hit the water at 12:15 and it looks like Adam Koch (USA, Ozone) is keen for a revanche for the worlds results, beating Johnny Heineken (USA, Ozone) in second and Damien Leroy (USA, Cabrinha) in third.

The next start was then scheduled for 13:30, and shortly after the start the wind died completely so the race had to be abandoned. After everybody was back at the beach the race committee went for a shortened course due to the lighter wind, as shortly before the re-run of this race a big black storm front hit the area, and that was it for the day. Rarely an event has seen so much water falling down.

So after one day there is only one race completed, with hopefully more to come in the next days. As a maximum of six races can be run per day it looks like some more work for both racers and race committee to come back to schedule.
