The International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) welcomes the principles published in the statement of the GKA from 6 February 2016. IKA has been working hard with the GKA over the past few weeks to drive the competitive side of the sport forward.
The ideas outlined in yesterdays GKA press release ensure that the kite companies represented in the GKA will generally support all events and allow their riders to participate in whichever event they wish to compete in.
With this confirmation we are now looking forward to welcome all riders, from GKA member companies as well as from all other kite brands not represented in the GKA, to the first round of the 2016 IKA Kiteboarding World Championships to be held in El Gouna, Egypt, from 20 to 26 of March.
As there will be no discards for the 2016 season - a principle followed by all major world championship series like Formula 1, Ski World Cup etc - riders in contention for the official 2016 IKA Kiteboarding World Champion titles in all disciplines are advised to participate in all events.
Further rounds of the 2016 IKA World Championships are planned to be held in France, Morocco, Fuerteventura, Turkey, Germany, China and Brazil.
