ISAF has confirmed that kiteboarding will be included in the 2019 World Beach Games alongside windsurfing. The World Beach Games are said to become the third biggest sporting event in the world after the Olympic Games and the FIFA Soccer World Cup. Pending final confirmation, the 2019 World Beach Games will be held in Socchi, Russia. The equipment and format are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that any related decisions will follow the Olympic Pathway. The World Beach Games 2019 will be open to competitors of any age.
Socchi could well though be a tough introduction for kiteboarding into the Beach Game,s as the location is not renowned for the strongest of winds. Lets hope then the Olympic Pathway will not be too rigidly stuck too and the right equipment and discipline will be chosen for the location the action is set to take place at.
The Beach Games at both regional and world level could offer all kiteboardings disciplines the opportunity to get in on the act, if time and place are right to show the sport at its best in the given conditions.
Lets see how this this all works out, but good to see kiteboardings game going for strength to strength.
