Perfect 7-9 knots seabreeze conditions allowed for three more races in front of the skyline of Palma, before the wind died and started to turn in preparation for the strong tramontana winds expected for the next day.
Race 4 of the 16 race opening series got underway at around 1300 hours after a postponement on shore due to unstable winds, and the fleet split nicely into starboard and port tackers - resulting in a general recall when half the fleet pushed too hard and went over the line too early. The restart of the race saw another dominance of Florian Trittel (ESP, ML/Elf), ahead of Blazej Ozog (POL, North) and Thiago Arteaga (ESP, Elf).
The second race was taken by Ivan Doronin (RUS, ML/Elf), who is comfortably sitting in second position overall now. Hot on his heels is Alejandro Climent (ESP, ML/Elf) with a strong and consistant performance.
The third race went down in exactly this order - Trittel, Doronin, Climent - in increasing winds. In the womens fleet Elena Kalinina (RUS, UC/Elf) again dominated the competition with 3 bullets. Anastasia Akopova (RUS, ML/Ozone) is safely in second with a streak of second places in every race, with Jade OConnor (IRL, UC/Elf) closely on her heels in third position.
Racing continues on Monday with 6 races scheduled in strong offshore winds.
Overall Standings after three races:
1. Florian Trittel (ESP, ML/Elf) - 5 pts
2. Ivan Doronin (RUS, ML/Elf) - 16 pts
