Throughout the last week the Roof of the World road trip team has been making its way from Germany to Tajikistan intent on taking part in the first ever Roof of the World Regatta. The trip has been shadowed throughout with the uncertainty of being allowed into the country once they arrived due to threatened boarder closures. These threats and the suspension of new visa’s being issued had put pay already to the KTA media team’s intended link up with the road trip crew in Osh for the final push to Lake Karakul.
But today we were delighted to see teams Facebook post confirming they had indeed made it across the boarder and up to the 4960m altitude of Lake Karakul. So massive congratulations to them and all the other sailors who have made it there. We are not sure yet who other than the kiters have reached the regatta and we look forward to seeing the first photos from this world record setting event.
