At the time of posting this report we are still in the frustrating position of not knowing whether the boarders into Tajikistan will be closed preventing everyone from reaching Lake Karakul and the Roof of the World Regatta (ROTW). This threatened boarder closure is due to security fears for the regional governments conference being held in Dushanbe the Tajik capital over the same period as the regatta.
Talk about unlucky timing!
Regardless of this a crew of kiters will still be making their epic road trip to the region, right up to the Tajikstan boarder in the hope that they will let them in. If not though they will be kiting where and when they can on-route, taking in some other equally stunning lakes hopefully in the ‘Stans’
You can follow their adventures on the ROTW Road Trip event page http://goo.gl/cjKWRk
Kathrin Borgwardt and Stephan Hertig will be part of the road trip crew and hopefully will get the chance to roll out the odd impromptu KTA Kite Kids along the way if we unfortunately loose the chance to train with the kids at Karakul.
The rest of the KTA team sadly was due to fly in to join the event, we still have fingers crossed but sadly this might have to wait now for another year.
