In just 10 days from now the first races of the 2013 World Championships will be underway and the top 160 kite racers in the world will be fighting out to become this year’s World Champions.
As of today as we publish this news item riders from than 40 countries from across the globe are converging on the Chinese island of Hainan at King Bay to begin their final preparations and pre-event training before the competition begins. Before this however the event will kick off in style with what promises to be an exciting and interesting opening ceremony which those of you have competed in China before will know is quite a different experience to the start of most kite events.
The IKA 2013 World Championships are being hosted and sponsored by King Bay with the full endorsement of the Hainan and Qionghai local governments and support from the Chinese Yachting Association (CYA) who’s own race officers are joining the international ISAF and IKA teams to provide the event race management.
In co-sponsorship of the World Championships we are delighted to see both a number of solid supporters and new faces alike which include course area sponsors Zhik and Cabrinha. Prize fund sponsors King Bay and the KTA – plus supporting event sponsors and suppliers, Ion Leisure, LiP, Maelstorm, BBT, Sea Story and Kitesurf China.
The 2013 World Championships race action that will be taking place between the 20 -24 November will be attracting a wide range of media interest both from national and international broadcasters and news agencies and promised to be witness by up to 3,000 local spectators a day.http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/system/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/World-Kite-Race-championships-2013-Hainan-China-Small.mp4
