PKRA breaks agreement with IKA

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

We regret to announce, that the PKRA has decided to go its own way instead of cooperating with IKA, KPWT and other organizers towards the unification of competition kiteboarding.

The PKRA had stated in an earlier press release, that they recognize the IKA as governing body for kiteboarding.

This, after hard negotiations had let to a common position with the clear commitment by the PKRA not to apply for special event status towards the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) but to work with the IKA, national kiteboarding associations and other tour operators.

As emerged now, an application for special event status has been raised again by the PKRA at the ISAF Council meeting last weekend, breaking the agreement achieved with the IKA before. These facts doesn’t make it reasonable to finalize the negotiations between IKA and PKRA at the moment.

It is expected, that the ISAF will reject the application for special event status and we hope that we can resume constructive negotiations with the PKRA thereafter.
