Rodwald and Pulido win freestyle single elimination at Sylt

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

Jesse Richman at SyltMario Rodwald (GER, North) and Gisela Pulido (ESP, Airush) have won the first single elimination of the KPWT Freestyle at Sylt, Germany. After 9 hours of judging the finals were held in almost perfect conditions in front of the scenic Westerland Beach.

After the opening ceremony with a stylish flag parade the skippersmeeting were held and the first heats drawn. Due to the high number of entries some pre-qualification runs were necessary in the mens fleet before the start of the first round.

With some surprises on the way, the two german top riders Mario Rodwald and Stefan Permien (Kitefactory) made it into the final, amongst others defeating KPWT wave world champion Monteiro, then Volpe, Auriol and Tyukjevich, who was able to beat 2008 world champion Jesse Richman.

In the womens fleet, Kristin Boese (GER, Best) made her way to the final against Thompson and Adrien, facing Gisela Pulido then who defeated Schibevaag and Jones in some spectacular heats before.

Both finals were exciting, with highest technical difficulties and stylish performance. In the end Rodwald and Pulido had the better end, but have to defend their positions in the double elimination during the upcoming days.
