Koch and Schibevaag defend their lead at day 2 of the IKA Worlds

Today was a completely different day for the 34 racers from 14 countries participating in the 2010 IKA World Kite Racing Championship.  While day 1 was overcast with winds gusting to over 30 knots, today, competitors were met with blue skies and had light to moderate wind conditions in the 9 to 16 knot range.

When someone mentions the name Aaron Hadlow, people stop dead in their tracks to get a glimpse of this English kiteboarding superhero in action.  From his super sick freestyle moves, to his smooth wakeboading influenced style, Hadlow is simply the best of the best.  Since his debut in 2002 at the age of 13, Hadlow managed to rocket his way to the top, winning 5 consecutive freestyle kiteboarding world championship titles.

Koch and Schibevaag leading the 2010 Course Racing Worlds

Six races on day one of the 2010 IKA course racing world championship was not only a test for the stamina of the riders, but also for the technical skills, as Copus Christi showed its windy side today.

With wind speeds at constand 30mph the entire fleet was challenged, conditions where extreme due to the heavy, rolling chop, and with the big new course racing boards the downwind legs proved to separate the great from the good.
