Yates and Pulido take the 2010 Freestyle World Titles

20-year-old Andy Yates (AUS, Slingshot) only started competing on the PKRA tour in 2009. In 2010 he already wins his first Freestyle World Championship title and brings the crown to “Down Under” for the first time in kite boarding history.

16-year-old Gisela Pulido (ESP, Airush) wins the freestyle world championship title for the 3rd time and shows that she has fully recovered from her knee injury that threw her back in 2009.

PKRA Australia Day 7

When it rains, it definitively pours here on the Gold Coast. The seventh day of competition ended in the mid afternoon hours today due to the heavy rain, and non-existent wind. Riders and crew gathered at the event site in hopes of a change in the wind and weather forecast.

Freestlye singles finished at PKRA Australia

After six days of waiting for stable wind conditions, today was the day. The wind began to pick up in strength near noon and the first heats of the day gotunderway. Race director Olaf Van Tol made the decision to begin the day with the wave discipline, as the conditions were not 100% suitable for the freestylers.
