Formula Kite World Rankings Update

Written by Editor on . Posted in News

Three days before the start of the 2014 ISAF Sailing World Cup Final in Abu Dhabi, Riccardo Leccese (ITA, ML/Ozone) has taken the lead in the Formula Kite World Rankings. Former top runner Florian Gruber (GER, UC/Ozone) is now second ranked, with Oliver Bridge (GBR, North) coming in third position after his success at the Asian Championships in Qatar last week.

In the Womens fleet, still on top of the rankings is Astrid Berz (SUI, ML/Ozone) ahead of Elena Kalinina (RUS, UC/Elf). 2014 World Champion and ISAF Rolex Sailor of the Year Nominee Steph Bridge (GBR, North) is currently ranked 4th.

The world rankings as of today will be used for the seeding into heats for the short track format in Abu Dhabi, if there are no fleet races to be run during the seeding stage on day 1 of the event. With a good forecast for the upcoming days however it is expected that the seeding into the round robin stage of the event will be done by up to six full fleet races.
