Hello from Santander, Spain!
I arrived here in North Spain Yesterday to take part in the ISAF/Olympic Format Trials.
What are they? Good question.
12 Male and 6 Female Racers where choosen to come and showcase Kiteboard Racing to the ISAF Commities and try different Race Formats that could possibly be used in the Olympics. This is very important to the Racing scene as this is our chance to get some exposure to the ISAF Judging Panel and possible positivly influence their decision.
Every IKA member country and the Brands where asked to Nominate one Male and one Female rider. The Racers who are here represent the current members of the IKA and are a diverse bunch. Poor Little Yo (Naraparchit Puddla) from Thailand is here and will be kiting for the first time in such cold Water conditions, I would feel more sorry for him, but I am also not used to the cold water, so we will both be sufferring when we get in the 12 deg Water ;-)
Fun by side. Germany, USA, Spain, Italy, UK, Turkey, Holland, Thailand and Poland are represented here at the Trials.
The Event is being hosted by the C.E.A.R Sailing Center. They have been very good to us (especially me) and its a very well organized Sailing Venue.
Today w had no Sailable Wind, so we just were on Standby which suited me. I woke up this morning and could barely move my left leg. I had serious Ciatic Pain. The guys at C.E.A.R sorted me out and drove me to the docs and made an apointment for me. The doc gave me some shots and now I am sorted out. I cannot thank them enough for their help in this. I was happy though that we did not sail today so as not to agrevate my back more than necessary.
Tonight will be a welcome reception at the Sailing Club and tomorrow we are beginning the day at 9.00AM. Forecast looks a bit warmer and there is a chance of wind.
