Gunnar Biniasch News:Back Surgery

Written by Gunnar Biniasch on . Posted in Riders News

The worst case scenario has happend.

I was already dealing with a lot of pain at the ISAF Trials in Santander.  After I got back to Fuerte I made an appointment for an MRI scan.  I just got the results and they are not good.

I have a severe herniated disc at L5-S1 (see the picture) that is pushing on the root of the Sciatic nerve.  	This is the Damage to my Disc between L5 and S1.  The Nerve is being badly pinched by the material than is leaking out of the disc.

It's lucky that I know this early as there should be very little residual nerve damage after the OP (lets hope so anyway) and I should make a full recovery.

I fly out of Fuerte to Frankfurt on Saturday and will be in the Hospital right after Easter for the OP.

Fingers crossed I should be back on the water in time for the KTE Germany.
