Holly Kennedy News: Turkey Always Windy

What a fabulous trip! I spent one week with Sarah and Mark from Always Windy ( who organise kitesurfing holidays ‘to destinations that are not yet discovered by the masses and where it is windy, not sometimes, or maybe, but definitely always windy!’

The trip started when I landed at Dalaman airport to be greeted by a kind Turkish man with a clipboard with my name on it. I took the taxi to Sarah and Marks house in Gokova which is up in the hills and looks over the bay. What a glorious view. The next day I had a session on my 9 at Gokova where the wind is steady and the conditions are simple and easy. Good start some would say. That evening Sarah made the most delicious meal- a moroccan spiced lemon chicken. Super tasty. I even took the recipe for it. Cheers S! The next morning we drove for around 4 and a half hours north to a village called Ayvalik. We went straight to the kite spot and had a sunset session :) The wind was very strong so 7m kites all round. For the next 5 days we filmed, took photos, toured the local area, completed a 28.9k downwinder, ate lots of traditional turkish style food, chilled out, met some new friends, pushed and promoted the sport in general alongside Always Windy with a big smile on hour faces.
