From 26th of April to 1st of May, the Sosh Cup was taking place in Leucate, in south of France during the Mondial du Vent. This event brings together all the best windsurfers and kitesurfers for six days of speed sailing.
It was my first speed competition and suddendly I was the youngest competitior at only 16 years old.
First day of the event was Saterday and the wind wasn’t with us. So everybody was preparing is gear for the next days!
On Sunday, the first race began at 9am with a wind around 30 knots. I prepared 9 and 7 meters RRD Addiction MkIV, the perfect kite to go fast on a speed run.
The first races were really hard because of the conditions. I did speeds around 35 knots average on 500 meters during the three first days.
Then, on the fifth day of racing, the wind was a bit lighter and I decided to take the start with my raceboard K-Rapida modified by HTM Boards with the Addiction 9m. And the speeds were just amazing, in a wind range of 20 knots, I did 35 knots average, putting me in the top 3 during the twenty first minutes. I finaly finished 15th of this race.
In the afternoon, the wind increase a lot and I took the start of the two other races with my speedboard and Addiction 9m.
I did some good runs over 36 knots and my best one with 36.78 knots average, finishing 22th and 17th of this two races.
On the last day of the event, the wind wasn’t blowing as strong as we needed for another race but perfect for a speed session with my K-Rapida. I was riding alone on the speed run with Rob and Morgan Douglas. The wind was around 17 knots average and I just reached an amazing speed of 37.01 knots average and 40.52 max speed with the Addiction 9m. The potencial of this kites is just limitless!
I finaly finished 33rd averall of the event, really surprised and happy to be nominated “Rookie” of the competition!!
After a week of rest, the first step of French Championship of Speed Crossing was taking place in Palavas for four days.
I was competiting there with my raceboard K-Rapida and it wasn’t easy to compete with the foils. After 17 races, more than 250 kilometers and a big battle with Théo Sicallac (member of the French Race Competition Team) I finaly finished 15th averal, 4th in Youth category and 1st on a raceboard.
The next step for me now is the DefiKite in Gruissan from 23rd to 25th of May with one of the biggest kite event in the world!
