Ozone News:Paulino Pereira - PKRA Dakhla

Written by Ozone on . Posted in Industry News

Hello everyone,

I am just packing my stuff to go back home. I have been in Morocco, Dakhla, for the PKRA Wave and Freestyle.

This was my first time here. I loved this place, it’s like a paradise for kiting, the wind never stopped, the sun was always shining, and the temperature its between the hot and cold, so you never get tired of being to warm or freezing.

The first days when I arrived there were no waves and the wind was like 15 to 20knots, perfect for some freestyle sessions with the 12 and 10m Catalyst. In the freestyle I use 20m lines and set up with the harder bar pressure in the smaller kites.

Its a question of feeling, I like to feel the bar when I do my tricks, like this you can put your kite in a better position. The short line option in the Catalyst make it more reactive, insane kite loops and give you a boost when you pop and a slack power during the trick (dead moment).

In the Waves we had some fun ones on the first day of competition. It was like 1.5m on the set and we could do some 6 turns on the long ones. The direction of the wind was slightly Side-Off which is just perfect, had so much fun.

There were 50 riders registered for the wave event. I had to do the trials also. Everything went fine till the 3rd round of the main event. On that heat for the quarter finals I had already one wave of 7 points but on the second set I crashed on a air reverse that cost me losing that heat for a 0.4 difference. In the end I finished in 9th place. I felt I could do much more, but competition sometimes is like this. One of the big reasons was the missing waves, but we all decided to run the contest like this.

After the event I have been here for a week now, and I have been training new strapless tricks and also freestyle. It’s so good when you can go out with the Catalyst and feel comfortable to throw out some different styles in the water.

I have been using the 8m and 6m Catalyst most of the time. Found out a side on shore wave spot where I can train some new air tricks. The level is so high that the only chance you have is to go big.

Looking forward for the next events. Keep you posted
