Ozone News:Patrick Blanc - PKRA Dakhla

Hello!

I just arrived home from my first PKRA event of the year. Dakhla was great this year, we had wind every single day during my trip.

I rode the first days of training most of the time with 12m or 10m C4. When the trials started, the wind was very light for 12m feeling underpowered so I was struggling a bit because I couldn’t do my tricks with much power, but managed to go through to the main event with them.

Then we had two days break, because they were doing the kitesurf event on the sea side. It was good for me to train a couple of days on 9m and get used to the spot and the choppy conditions!

After that we finally started with the main event, my first heat was against Mario Rodwald, the european champion and rank 7th on the tour last year, I managed to ride good on my 9m C4, I had great wind for it so I went big!

My second round was against Alberto Rondina, the wind picked up so we were both on 7m wind was gusty, there were a lot of holes of wind so it was hard to find the good spot for do your manoeuvers. I did a couple of better tricks than him so I went to the quarter final, I had a hard heat against the Vice world champion from last year. I did my best against Marc Jacobs on my 7m but he was really killing it!

During the double elimination I was feeling bad, I had fever and wasn’t really motivated to go kiting. I had a tight heat against Mario Rodwald, I lost for less than a point…I ended up 9th in this 2nd stop of the PKRA, I’m happy about it. I didn’t ride since my small knee injury so I am stoked about it!
