Ozone News:Andy’s Ozone Summer Series - Ep 4 - A Change of Pace

Written by Ozone on . Posted in Industry News

Nothing beats a session at my local spot, Caloundra Rivermouth, with my friends. However, I do find myself daydreaming from time to time, imagining kiting a place that perhaps has never been kited before, or even seen for that matter! Most places around the world have in one way or another been kited, whether that be on the water, snow or land. It’s so rare to find somewhere new, that no one else has kited. Indeed, the place that I was fortunate to kite, hadn’t even been visited by most Australians - it is the remote coastline of Fraser Island!!

Accessibly only by many hours of intense 4x4 or, as was the case for us, a private flight in a single engine Cessna 182, the remote coastline of Fraser Island is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Its difficult accessibly essentially renders it unreachable for the vast majority of all Australians, which is a wonderful change-up from what I’m used to. Instead, you’re mainly surrounded by an ecosystem that is completely unchanged, without any visible signs of human intervention. No footprints, no buildings, no anything pretty much apart from natural coastline and the occasional inquisitive Dingo.

This video isn’t about the best tricks I can do behind a kite; no, it’s about going against the grain and finding your own place to do what you love.

Many thanks go out to Ozone and our awesome pilot, Rhys Porter!!
