Airush News:Airush Sits on the Podium

Written by Airush on . Posted in Industry News

This years PKRA events have been packed with ups and downs and plenty of excitement. The 2013 PKRA Fuerteventura event was no different with Alex Pastor and Airush maintaining the lead on the Males freestyle podium.

Alex Pastor makes this his 4th First Place Podium out of 5 events (2nd Place at PKRA Germany) completely proving that he is the one that everyone else is trying to catch up to.  The insanely high winds made it extremely hard for the average rider to hold on let alone considering to unhook to do your repertoire of tricks.

Slalom kicked off the event with, at first, a lightwind start.  Oswald Smith has focused on this discipline during his Cape Town summers alongside his original love, Wakestyle/Freestyle.  Half way through the racing, winds reached up to 40 knots, making it an incredibly different type of competition.  Hanging up their slalom boards to lacing up their boots on their twintips – it became an all out warfare for number one.  17 year old Ozzie took the 2nd place after 12 races.

Bruna Kajiya announced during the event she will be on the injured list for the next 6 months.  An upcoming ACL surgery, some rest and an intensive time with her physical therapist will prepare her for the 2014 season.  We wish her a speed recovery of course. :)

Special sneak shot of Airush rider and PKRA Commentator Dave Tyburski reminiscing about “the-good-old-days” of competing with Mark Shinn.
