During the first day of the competition at the KTE in Gizzeria we were able to finish 5 Races.
The day started with the Skippersmeeting at 10 am with a first possible start for Freestyle at 10.30 am and first possible start for Racing at 11 am. The wind picked up after the meeting, but was not strong enough to start the Freestyle competition. The Race Director decided to start with the Formula Racing, which was in the end the right decision. Oliver Bridge, from the UK, had a really good day on the water and won 4 of 5 races, which makes him leading the event. Second place is Italian Rider and KTE Germany winner Riccardo Leccese followed by Alejandro Climent Hernandez. Lorenzo Giovannelli is at the moment in 4th position ahead of World Champion Florian Gruber who is currently ranked 5th.
During the races the Freestyler were checking regular the wind inside the Freestyle box, but in the end there was not enough wind for a fair competition to battle out the new European Champions in Freestyle 2014.
The sun was shining all day long and spectators were following the action on and off the water. Lewis Crathern, our international commentator, explained very well the differences of the kites and boards. Most of the riders switched from Tubekites to the Softkites from Ozone and Elf Kites, which is a really big advantage in conditions like we have here in Gizzeria.
The wind forecast for tomorrow predicts stronger wind than today so that we can start with Freestyle tomorrow morning. Skippersmeeting will be tomorrow for all competitors at 10 am.
Also tomorrow the big Aloha Beach Party will start and will be supported by the Red Bull Racing Night. The organizer expects 10.000 people during the party tomorrow.Video Day 1
