The Formula Kite class is a high performance hydrofoiling class using regulated series registered production equipment freely available.
For Regional Games and a possible inclusion in the Olympic Games, one hydrofoil model and one kite model will be selected for a plain level playing field and to avoid an arms race.
The KiteFoil class is a full development class with minimal equipment limitation, allowing brands to test the latest equipment on the market.
The GoldCup tour is the sports premium event series with events all around the world and a strong focus on media production and prize money level.
The Expression Disciplines currently include Freestyle, Big Air, Wave Riding, Strapless Freestyle and Park. Competition is judged on difficulty and execution rather than "first past the post".
World Sailing, IKA and GKA have agreed to share the responsibilities for the Expression Disciplines with the Open World Titles awarded through professional tours.
Kiteboarding has been included in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games with a boardercross event on IKA TwinTip:Racing equipment, for boys and girls under 18.
Have a look here to learn more about equipment limitations, formats and qualification opportunities.
The IKA continues to campaign for an inclusion of kiteboarding in the 2020 Tokyo Games and several Regional Games on One Design Kitefoiling Equipment.
The Formula Kite class is the only afforadable solution for emerging and developing nations to compete in high performance classes and ticks all boxes of the IOC requirements, especially for youth and media appeal.
KB4Girls Lancing Chapter - 2013 GLOBAL CLINIC *16th - 18th August!* Come and stay with us and have an action-packed girls kiting weekend!
The next stop on 9x World Champ Kristin Boese's Global KB4Girls tour is none other then Lancing, UK! We are VERY excited to be once again hosting this awesome girls-only kiting clinic, and have a fantastic weekend planned, including the awesome Kristin Boese herself tutoring and inspiring you all to new riding levels! Every year we see a gathering of like-minded, friendly and generally amazing girls who come together to push their riding :)
This 3-day event kicks off with registration on the 16th July at the Adur Outdoor Activities Center in Shoreham. We will get to know each other over a BBQ and games, and you will have the opportunity to go for a leisurely SUP on the adjacent river (SUPs courtesy of Evolution Watersports - danke!).
On the Saturday you will be grouped with girls of a similar level to work together with Kristin and other pro-coaches to push your riding and hopefully nail some new tricks. You will do land-based visualisation & watch water demonstrations before hitting the water for day of progression!
On Saturday evening we will be heading into Shoreham Town to 'The Beach House' restaurant and cocktail bar. Here we will enjoy a sumptuous 2-course meal and cocktails, and then party! The fancy dress theme for the night is 'Drinks' - so get those creative juices flowing and come decked up as a White Russian, Salty Dog, Zombie, pink lady etc etc etc! At the party you will have the opportunity to take control of the decks for a period and wow us with your tune choice (DJ name obligatory!). Big thanks to Lancing Kite Club and Kiteworld Magazine for their contributions!
On Sunday we will be organising a fun competition with help from the BKSA, before concluding with a presentation of prizes and awards. We will once again be remembering Fiona Claisse, a local kitesurfer who tragically died of cancer in January last year, by giving out an award to the participant who we feel best embodies her spirit and attitude towards progression.
Event Level: this is an ADVANCED only clinic (min. requirement going upwind comfortably)
Local partners and sponsors: Evolution Watersports, Best Kiteboarding, Kiteworld Magazine, BKSA, BKA, Lancing Kitesurfing Club, Lancing Parish Council.
Cost : This is a FREE clinic! You will be required to contribute money towards accommodation costs (see below) and the meal/drinks on Saturday Night, as well as money for snacks etc. But all coaching is for FREEEEE! :D
Spot Overview : Chosen for the forth year in a row to host a KB4Girls Global event, Lancing is a popular South Coast kiting destination for many reasons, and regularly sees pro-riders on it's shores. Lancing can deliver a range of conditions, but the event this year is timed perfectly to co-incide with low tides. So you can expect shallow water with plenty of beach to launch and land on. The wind and weather is always a surprise in Europe, no matter where you are. So although we are hoping for beautiful winds and sunny skies, don't forget to bring your brolly! ;) The wind generally blows from the South-West and we commonly get 'Sea-Breezes' throughout the summer, providing steady 20mph+ wind conditions.
Accommodation & Directions : We will be staying Adur Outdoor Activity Center in Shoreham (map here) The centre has a number of communal 'bunk' rooms, and there will also be space for girls to 'camp' inside on air beds. There will be a small cost for the accommodation, which we anticipate to be around £10. But we will be unable to confirm the exact cost until numbers are confirmed.
We will be sending out directions with other additional information before the event.
