The KTA is very pleased to announce that it has just gained new support for the race centre project from the Kitesurf Association Thailand (KAT)
Although KAT is a National Governing body rather than a brand it has decided to take the bold step to support Thai riders and the sport in general by bringing a low cost race board design of its own to the market.
The story began for KAT at towards the end of 2011 as it considered how it could help more Thais to take up course racing and be competitive. For many riders in Thailand the cost of production boards from the commercial brands was proving to be prohibitive and unless a more cost effect answer could be found it would be unlikely that the sport would be able take off in any meaningful way in Thailand.
The answer KAT up with was to produce their own Thai grown race board that would be affordable and fun to ride, but still be able to give the serious competitor the chance to be up there on the podium at the end of race day. So the P1 was born, a high performance race board that comes complete with a full foot strap, pads and fin package.
The P1 race board is being produced under the company name of BPOP Co Ltd for KAT and although originally conceived for its own members, KAT wants it to help other less affluent riders anywhere so the P1 will be available outside of Thailand also.
You will hopefully therefore soon be able to hire and try out a P1 board through a KTA Race Center and in the near future will also get your very own via the new KTA online riders shop.
